Women’s Organisation for Managing Economic and Educational Needs (short name W.O.M.E.N.) was founded by Dr. (Mrs) Azmat Nayeem in Sep 1986. It is a Govt of A.P. registered society having seven competent women in the Governing Body. Though all belong to different academics, they have a basic instinct of social development with a practical approach. Likewise there exists an Expert committee (comprising on H.R., PM&E Fin & Business) which monitors the performance of W.O.M.E.N. Soon after acquiring of 7 years of experience in social research (in Osmania University, Hyderabad WHO / UNICEF and NIH & FW, New Delhi and NIRD & IIE, Hyderabad), Dr. Nayeem switched over to heart felt desire to work with downtrodden and under privileged women and elderly both, and gradually transformed herself in social entrepreneurship.

W.O.M.E.N., in collaboration with St. Ann's College for Women, Mehdipatnum, Hyderabad has organized a short course for young women/girls of slum areas of Asif Nagar. The course was organised from 07th to 14th Feb 2012. Focused on Candle Making, and Artificial Flower making. This helped many women / girls to start preparing Artificial Flowers which are circulated in the market, allowing them to earn a livelihood. The final day, on 14th Feb 2012, there was an Valedectory function organised, wherein vice president of Rotary Club of Hyderabad, Central was invided as Chief Guest. Trainees were counseled on how to market these home made products. Find below, some of the pictures taken on the event day.

Social Development Work Carried out:
The main focus of W.O.M.E.N., is to serve the down-trodden, destitute slum women / girls as well as elderly and people with no means to livelihood. In other words to help them stand on their own feet, thereby achieving economic self-sufficiency. Development work is being conducted in 20 specific slums of karwan area of Asif Nagar covering a women population of over 80000 or even more.

W.O.M.E.N. organized Mela cum Exhibition of small articles made/procured by Elder's Self Help Groups. Groups of Elder's are identified and are provided with Bank Account to save and share this petty amount to establish a small business. This business is then promoted by organizing Mela cum sale, which inturn helps in raising revenue for elders . International Day for Elderly celebrations in collaboration with Helpage India was organised by Helpage India and W.O.M.E.N., was one of the participants in the grand event. Inter Generation Walkathon was arranged for about 1 Km. This event was focused as part of Helpage India's GOLD SEVA (Grannies Organization For Livelihood Development, Social Empowerment and Welface Activities).
